Lead Audiologist
Dr. Cordell received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Louisiana State University. She recently graduated summa cum laude from Louisiana State University Health – New Orleans with a clinical doctorate of Audiology. Dr. Cordell’s educational and clinical experience allow her to provide comprehensive audiological services to pediatric, adult and geriatric patients suffering from hearing loss, vestibular impairment and other auditory related disorders. Additionally, she completed a portion of her residency at Brainchild Institute in Hollywood, Florida where she received specialized training in the diagnosis and management of children with auditory processing disorders (APD). Dr. Cordell has been employed by Dynamic Therapy Specialists in various capacities since 2009. She is excited to expand her professional responsibilities to include quality diagnostic and rehabilitative services that target improved hearing, communication and quality of life for patients of all ages. Dr. Cordell holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and is licensed to practice audiology in the state of Louisiana. She is also an active member of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) and Louisiana Academy of Audiology (LAA).
In addition to her education and experience in the field of audiology, Dr. Cordell has pursued additional training in the area of pediatric neurodevelopment. This unique combination of skills allows her to treat sensory hearing loss, as well as the underlying neurological pathways of the auditory system. Dr. Cordell’s primary area of clinical interest is the diagnosis and management of auditory processing disorders in school-aged children. Whether an individual’s deficits are sensory or neural in nature, Dr. Cordell will perform comprehensive diagnostic services and develop individualized treatment plans designed to improve audibility, communication, self-esteem and learning potentials.
Dr. Cordell recently began the certification process to become a Core Specialist in the Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration (MNRI) method. She has completed the following intensive MNRI trainings: Dynamic and Postural (twice), Auditory & Visual Reflex Integration, Upper Limbs & Manual Skills Integration, Tactile Integration and Stress Hormones and Reflex Integration. She also is an Integrated Listening System (ILS) practitioner and has extensive experience with the Bal-A-Vis-X (Balance/Auditory/Visual Exercises) program. Dr. Cordell has plans to pursue additional trainings in the fields of sound therapy, dichotic training and cognitive training programs.
Dr. Cordell is originally from Mandeville, Louisiana. She currently calls Prairieville home where she lives with her husband, David, and wiener dog, Jax. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling and maintaining an active lifestyle.
