Dr. Roy has over a decade of specialized experience working with children with neurological and developmental difficulties. She is owner and founder of Interactive Communication, LLC and co-owner of Dynamic Therapy Specialists, LLC. She received her Bachelor and Masters of Arts degrees from Louisiana State University in Communication Sciences and Disorders and her doctorate degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill in December 2006. Dr. Roy completed her clinical fellowship year at Let’s Talk Speech and Language Services in Raleigh, NC where she specialized in working with children with a diagnosis of autism. She continued working at Let’s Talk throughout the duration of her doctoral program. Also while pursuing her doctorate degree, Vicky worked with Dr. Karen Erickson and Dr. Betsy Crais on a variety of language and literacy research projects serving as research assistant, teaching assistant, co-teacher, and project manager. Vicky’s primary area of research is early language and literacy development with an emphasis on children with special needs. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech–Language–Hearing Association and is licensed to practice speech and language therapy in the State of Louisiana.
Dr. Roy has extensive advanced clinical training. She received her Relationship Development Intervention (RDI®) program certification in August 2006 becoming Louisiana’s first certified consultant. Since this time, she has worked with over 200 families and their children with a diagnosis of autism or related disorders empowering parents to serve as their child’s primary interventionist. Vicky continues to fulfill intensive program requirements for annual RDI® recertification. In addition, Vicky has attended numerous workshops and conferences to continue to expand her knowledge and training and provide the families who trust her to help their children with the most up to date treatment approaches. Most notably, Dr. Roy began pursuing advanced training in the Masgutova Neurosensorymotor Reflex Integration (MNRI) program in 2010. She has completed over 22 MNRI training courses, studied privately with Dr. Masgutova at her clinic in Orlando, FL, and attended several MNRI Family conferences. In 2016, Dr. Roy became Baton Rouge’s first MNRI Core Specialist for reflex integration.
Dr. Roy has also received training in the following: Floortime (DIR®), PROMPT, The Kaufman Speech To Language Protocol, Lindamood-Bell Verbalizing and Visualizing, LIPS®, the Integrative Listening Systems (ILS) and the Whole–To–Part Literacy Approach.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Roy served for 6 years as adjunct faculty at the University of New Orleans where she taught a Language and Literacy Course designed specifically for teachers working on their severe to profound special education certification. Dr. Roy provides a variety of local and national in–services, conference presentations, and extended trainings. She also provides literacy based consultation to the Louisiana Department of Education and various Louisiana and Texas school districts.
Dr. Roy is originally from Shreveport, LA. She currently calls Baton Rouge home where she lives with her husband, Devin, her sons, Logan and Landin, her daughter, Adelynn and the newest member of the Roy family, Frisbee.
