Dyslexia is a difference in how the brain processes written language. People with dyslexia struggle with reading, spelling, and usually written expression—even though they’re smart and trying really hard. It is also a learning difference that is inherited.
The good news? We can identify it, and when we catch it early, we can change the brain.
How Do We Evaluate for Dyslexia at DTS?
At Dynamic Therapy Specialists, we use a comprehensive evaluation process that takes a developmental approach. We assess the building blocks of development specific to literacy—things like phonological awareness, which is understanding the sounds in words, auditory processing- which is what the brain does with what it hears, and other foundational skills. We use the protocols necessary to determine a specific diagnosis. Our process is different though because not only do we complete the evaluation process to provide a diagnosis, but we also provide the specific plan for intervention as part of the process.
This thorough approach helps us understand exactly where your child needs support—so we can target our intervention efficiently and effectively.
