Alyssa Schell, M.A., L-SLP, CCC-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist
Alyssa is a long-standing member of the #DTSForce. She began with DTS as a Camp Dynamics counselor during her undergraduate studies, then served as an Audiology Extender and Speech Technician before attending graduate school. After earning her M.S. in Communication Disorders from LSU Baton Rouge, she returned to DTS as a full-time speech‑language pathologist. Alyssa focuses her continuing education on language, articulation, social development, infant and pediatric feeding, and myofunctional disorders. She is passionate about working with children across a range of diagnoses and continually pursues advanced training in infant feeding and myofunctional therapy.
Recent advanced training:
- TOTS (Tethered Oral Tissues Specialty) Training — specialized program to evaluate, educate, and treat tethered oral tissues (e.g., tongue and lip ties) across the lifespan.
Clinical experience during graduate school
- Woman’s Hospital (Outpatient): treated infants and children for feeding concerns, dysphagia, articulation, AAC, and tethered oral tissues.
- East Baton Rouge Parish Head Start Program: conducted hearing, language, and articulation screenings for children under five.
- Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital (Cleft Palate Team): collaborated on an interdisciplinary team supporting children from infancy through adolescence with cleft palate and genetic syndromes.
