Here’s something I really believe: every child is unique. Their brains work differently, but usually in predictable ways. Children learn differently. And they deserve instruction that matches them—not instruction that tries to fit them into a mold.
At Dynamic Therapy Specialists, we use what we call the pyramid approach. Think of it this way: at the base of the pyramid are the foundational skills every reader needs. Things like understanding the sounds in words, discerning the differences in sounds, and processing the input received by the brain in a predictable manner.
How the Pyramid Works
We assess where your child sits on that pyramid. Some kids might need a lot of work on the foundation. Others might have that foundation solid but need help with higher level skills like fluency—reading faster and more automatically. Some need help with comprehension—understanding what they read, which may involve foundational AND higher level skills.
- We don’t teach every kid the same sequence
- We target exactly what your child needs right now
- We move up the pyramid together as your child grows
This means your child isn’t wasting time on things they already know. We’re being efficient with the most important resource—your time and your investment. That’s what makes the pyramid approach so powerful.
